Thursday Beavers are back after their summer break! We have started the new term working on the Air Activities – Activity Badge. Last week the Beavers made paper aeroplanes. We held a competition to see who had the best paper aeroplane. Our champion paper aeroplane was piloted by our newcomer Ethan W. Well done Ethan – not only was it a great flyer it was also well decorated! In a few weeks time we will be having a visit from a Pilot, who will talk to the Beavers about his experiences of flying.
On Sunday, Thursday Beavers completed the 3rd and final leg of the Three Legs Challenge 2014. Eleven Beavers joined the walk from Braddan to Crosby. The weather was perfect, warmer than expected. The Beavers, along with mums, dads and granddads completed the walk in about an hour and a half – a great effort. Two Beavers from the Thursday Colony have now completed all three legs of the 2014 Challenge – so very well done to Harry and Alex who have gained their 3 Legs Challenge Badge. For the new Beavers it was the first Leg of the Challenge and also meant that they gain their Hikes 1 Badge – so well done to Callum, Ethan and Ben.
Last night Thursday Beavers had a visit from Joanne who is a member of Dance Dynamics. Joanne showed the Beavers, as well as parents and Leaders, some dance moves to the Katy Perry song – Roar. The dance was broken down into small sections and gradually put together as one routine. I was so impressed by their enthusiasm and their moves! They worked really hard and from the smiles all round, they really enjoyed it. We finished the evening by showing the parents the routine. Thanks to Joanne for a great evening!
