Thursday Beavers had a visit recently to Broadway Baptist Church in Douglas. The Minister (Bill) made the Beavers very welcome. They were all very excited and interested to see inside the Church and the big bath or Baptistery! Bill talked a little about what happens in his church, then tested to see if the Beavers had been listening by setting them a little Quiz. Luckily they had been listening and managed to answer most of the questions correctly.
The Beavers then learnt a new song (with Jack’s mum helping with the actions – thanks Yvonne).
Bill also set a little relay race for the Beavers which involved crawling through the chairs – luckily they all managed to squeeze their way through and were naturally very pleased with themselves.
The Beavers were finally allowed in the Baptistery at the end of the meeting where we finished the meeting with our usual prayer.
Eight Beavers took part in the third leg of the Three Legs Challenge & JOTT (Jamboree on the Trail) on Saturday 9 May. The Beavers, along with other Colonies, completed the section of the Heritage Trail from St John’s to Peel. The Beavers were given a Quiz to complete on the way, which meant the walk took a bit longer, but it added lots of interest and discussion along the way, and has definitely been one of my favourite walks. All the Beavers taking part on the day will receive their JOTT Badge, and Matthew and Jack – who have completed their final section of the Three Legs Challenge – will be awarded their Three legs Challenge Badge next week. Well done boys, and well done to all those who took part on the day – excellent behaviour and commitment.
